Hybrid decentralised / centralised hosting
Wunder believes deeply that there is a need for interoperability between web 2.0 and web 3.0. Through decentralised hosting, Wunder aims to provide a truely stable and scalable alternative to centralised hosting and management of content, all managed by a hashing system on our network that is highly available and highly scalable.
Wunders approach to being a federated platform means that users can bring their content from wherever they like, leveraging our open source network connector. This connector means a user can host and manage their content however they see most suitable for their individual circumstances, feeding the content they want through to Wunder for indexing. Users who do not have a desire to engage with these types of services, as decentralisation may not be that high on their agenda can leverage the Wunder decentralised / centralised hybrid hosting platform.
The Wunder way
The Wunder Hybrid approach offers the best of both worlds. A traditional web 2.0 hosting and delivery service that is free at the point of access, with the ability to scale up and manage your content using the Wunder decentralised hosting options. Content that is decentralised will be broken into chunks, distributed across our network of nodes, and represented via a hashing system to surface it back into the wunder network, or to be used externally to Wunder, with advanced options such as content encryption at point of uploading. Wunder will incentivise miners to provide their computing power to support the network of nodes through Wunder token, offering a scalable hosting solution that our community owns. As Wunder will be building vast amounts of its own storage, processing and computing resources, Wunder will be able to offer this power back to the decentralised network when it is available. This approach is detailed further down in this document, where Wunders centralised resources will act as a miner for its decentralised service when spare resources are made available.
Wunder will be able to offer a freemium service from the outset, where advertisement revenue models will provide the funding to offer users a free at the point of access service, whilst professional content creators will have vast amounts of resources available to them, and the choice to take their content over to the web 3.0 world seamlessly. Wunder creators will invest their revenue streams back into their services, levelling up as they grow their presence with Wunder.
Wunders Video protocol
Wunder will extend beyond the hosting of traditional content like images and text to video based hosting and streaming, leveraging a unique approach to peer-to-peer content. Decentralised video streaming relies on the same principles as decentralised storage. A peer-to-peer (P2P) network is used for streaming the video in real time, with data coming from multiple nodes. Playback is powered by a specialised Wunder protocol that allows for smooth streaming from multiple decentralised sources, even if one or more nodes goes offline. Wunder will build its own streaming protocol on top of IPFS, we will incentivise supporters (miners) to offer storage space for decentralised content. Users pay Wunder token to store video files, and the network ensures the availability and integrity of the files. Wunder will use a combination of blockchain, distributed hash tables (DHT), and cryptographic techniques to ensure the videos are stored securely, reliably, and available on demand.
Protecting your IP
By leveraging the Wunder decentralised hosting services, users have the control to authorise who (what platform / service) can access and display their content. Combining this with existing web 2.0 technologies such as DRM players and non-perceptible and perceptible water marking, Wunder aims to offer a true alternative to the existing video streaming services from web 2.0, with the ease of their user experience, powered by a highly available and highly scalable platform run on blockchain technology.
Mining our own services
Wunder apprecaites how much computing power will be needed to support a network of this size and scale, and intends to invest funds raised during the growth of the service into offering our own computing power to support the network over time. It is our desire to work with the big players in the web 2.0 world and explore a partnership where they provide significant computing power to the network alongside Wunder, and being part of the architecture and support system.
This architecute will go towards:
Video transcoding: Processing raw video content into different formats and resolutions for efficient streaming.
Storage: Hosting and storing video files across your infrastructure.
Bandwidth: Serving videos to users who are watching streams (peer-to-peer delivery).
Metadata management: Storing and validating metadata related to video content, such as content identifiers (CIDs) or blockchain-based records.
Encryption: Processing of video files to protect them from IP theft and onterference.
Two key ways WUnder intends to do this is:
Providing resources: Computational power (CPU/GPU), storage (hard drive space), and/or bandwidth to the network.
Task assignment: The network assigns specific tasks to our node, such as the ones mentioned above.
In video transcoding, our node will be asked to process video files for compression, conversion into multiple resolutions, and optimisations for smoother playback.
In storage, our node will be asked to store chunks of video data or provide backup copies.
In streaming, our node will deliver video content directly to end users in a peer-to-peer fashion, offloading bandwidth from centralised servers.
Wunder will benefit from the investment video creators make into protecting and hosting their content with Wunder. With that investment being paid down into the Wunder network thorugh Wunder token, onto the miners supporting the services, including Wunders own infrastructure. The Wunder token will be the backbone of this infrastructure, creating a circular economy, where creators earn tokens for contributing to the Wunder social media platform, investing a percentage of those tokens back into their engagement with Wunder, funding the infrastructure that supports their decentralised content services. Wunder content creators will be able to monetise their content directly from within the Wunder social network or through third party services if they wish to make their content available externally. The content creator has complete control of their content from point of creation, through to distribution and monetisation.
